Dressing in basics - how I do it...

If you asked my friends, my style its pretty basic. Still I have a few must haves and key pieces and some simple tricks that help finish any outfit. I turn everywhere for inspiration, save images in folders on my desktop or cut out pieces from newspapers and hang them up on an inspiration board. Too start off, here are my "basics in basics":

1. Choose your basics: 

The top: usually a plain white t-shirt or button up or a blue and white striped breton top.

The bottom: dark wash jeans are my favorite. 

The shoes: I tend to wear mostly flats because they are the easiest for college students and still look good, some pumps would be great too!  

2. Add an extra layer: 

Add a blazer or pullover as cover up to keep warm or if you are already wearing something long sleeved add a shirt and let the collar and sleeves stick out.

3. Add accessories: 

Around the neck: I like to add scarves because they are bold but you can also use a necklace, or even a statement piece

Around the waist: Belts! I almost always wear belts.

Around the wrist: It`s all about the arm candy. A pretty watch, some layered bracelets, add a clutch or a pretty bag

In the hair: Maybe you like wearing hats, maybe you prefer headbands, sunglasses, earrings, take whatever you like. 

4. Don`t overdo it: 

Stay simple, never use too much. Set a few statements, maybe wear a bright lip color or bright nails but don`t go over the top! It`s all in dressing up the basics!
